James Haskell of Wasps and England Rugby Fame on His New Book Entitled Perfect Fit – also avoiding skiing injuries

February 13, 2018 - Mike Dilke

I was recently lucky enough to chat with James Haskell of Wasps and England rugby fame. We mainly spoke about his new book, Perfect Fit, but there is also an insight into what it takes to be an international sportsman - that is hard work and dedication with no short cuts available.  The interview is on the the latest RELAXBACK UK show along with some advice on how to avoid skiing injuries.

James Haskell is a sportsman at the top of his game and has distilled his experience from keeping in top physical condition so everyone can benefit from it. We might not get to look like him, and lets face it we might not all want to, but by following the advice in his book, Perfect Fit, you will get leaner and fitter. There is absolutely no question about that.

This is not a fad diet or exercise book. It was refreshing to talk to someone who is so anti that kind of thing and the truth is that you need to eat well and put some effort in if you want to get fitter. However this book has the advice to make that process as easy as possible and it is relevant to anyone of any fitness and any age - you don't have to be a rugby player already.

Lots of people are off on skiing holidays at this time of year. I regularly go through St Pancras Station in London and the Eurostar passengers are often striding through the crowds with skis and snowboards on their way to the snow. However will they be striding back or will it be more of a hobble after they crock themselves on the slopes?

To get some advice on how to have an injury free skiing holiday listen to the RELAXBACK UK show. I chatted with Jess Reed, physio and experienced skier to get tips on how to prepare and what to do should you injure yourself on the slopes. Jess Reed practices at Marylebone Physio in London.

Also I will be running the Big Half in London on March 4th. I will be raising money for the BackCare Charity which helps people who suffer the ordeal of back pain. Please sponsor me here if you can.

Thank you for reading. If you have any questions or comments about the Relaxback UK show please ask/ make them below and do listen to the show here.
