A Young Persons Rehab From a Stroke and Buying a Running Watch

December 5, 2017 - Mike Dilke

This week the RELAXBACK UK show has Adam Wells, a 30 year old stroke patient, talking about the moment of his stroke and the rehabilitation process. I also mention some of my experiences buying a running watch to help my attempts at getting a bit fitter.

Adam Wells is a very determined person and this comes across in how he describes his rehab journey so far and what he hopes to achieve in the future. He was a fit 30 year old and was training for a marathon, he drank little, ate well yet was one of the few young people to experience a stroke. This awful luck has left him not being able to do everything he used to but he is focusing on doing as much as he can and to keep improving.

In the course of the Relaxback UK show and my business I do meet some extraordinary people but Adam Wells really is one of the most determined I have come across. Listen to him here.

There are some website that give advice for stroke sufferers:-

The Stroke Association -

I have started to do a bit more running and decided to invest in a watch that can monitor my heart rate and tell me how far I have run and all kinds of clever things. There are lots of these watches and I chose one that did all this and also has quite big numbers - I have started to wear glasses since I my last bout of running!

I decided on the make of watch and who to buy it from. There are many variations on this particular watch type and the retailer had the wrong photo shown. I ended up buying the wrong one so I have a bit of a rant about that on the Relaxback UK show. The result is that I still don't have a running watch so the people of St Albans may see a fat guy jogging about saying 'Good morning' to peope he meets - don't be alarmed all is explained on the podcast!
